Covington, IN
The Covington 5K Run/Walk is an annual event held in Covington, IN promoting a healthy community. The net proceeds from each year's event are donated back into the Covington community. All donations received to the Covington 5K Run/Walk will aid in covering the cost of the annual event (i.e. timing, shirts, awards, marketing, and support) with net proceeds being contributed to the beneficiaries selected.
The 2019 Covington 5K Run/Walk selected beneficiary is the Covington Cooperative Swim Program. The Covington Cooperative Swim Program is designed to teach elementary age students water safety and survival skills, as well as provide an opportunity for outdoor recreation. The program provides students swimwear, caps, and towels, as well as provide training supplies and assist with water maintenance of the Covington City Pool. The program is offered-free-of-charge to students. Certified life guards and Covington Elementary School Physical Education Teacher/Licensed Swim Instructor facilitate the program.
Selection of the Covington Cooperative Swim Program is the result of their planned expansion of the program. Previously the program focused on 3rd grade students, but is seeking to expand to include additional grades. Net proceeds generated by the Covington 5K Run/Walk will be donated to the Covington Cooperative Swim Program.
